Our Story

Balfurd Linen Service was founded in 1927 in Tipton, Pennsylvania, and has remained family-owned for four generations since. What started as a local linen route serving a handful of central Pennsylvania businesses has grown into a regional provider covering Pennsylvania, northern Maryland, and northern West Virginia — without ever losing the personal, route-based service model the business was built on. Today, Balfurd operates from its primary production facility in Tipton, PA, with a dedicated service center in Pittsburgh to support the western Pennsylvania market. We remain family-owned because we believe a 99-year relationship with our region’s businesses is worth more than the scale a national chain can offer — our customers get a direct point of contact, not a call center.

Our Facility

Our production facility is located at 2467 Park Avenue, Tipton, PA 16684, where all linens and uniforms are processed to TRSA Hygienically Clean certification standards — a third-party verified benchmark that requires documented microbial testing for every batch. This certification is the same standard hospitals and healthcare facilities require, and it applies to every order we process, regardless of industry. Our Pittsburgh service center at 330 Plum Industrial Park extends weekly route coverage throughout Allegheny County, cutting delivery times for our western Pennsylvania clients.
