Our Services

Your one stop shop for linens, uniforms, first aid, cleaning supplies, and floor mats.

Balfurd has served Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia businesses since 1927 — four generations of the same family managing pickup, cleaning, and delivery so your team never has to think about inventory, laundering, or compliance again. Whether you run a single restaurant or manage facilities across multiple locations, we build the program around how you actually operate.

How Linen Rental Works

From the first pickup to every delivery after, our process is built around one goal: linens and uniforms that are always clean, always compliant, and always on your shelf when you need them. No surprise fees, no guessing what’s in the truck — just a repeatable cycle your team can plan around.

1

Custom Plan & Pickup Schedule. We start with a walkthrough of your business to size a rental plan around real usage — no guessing, no overstocking. You get a set weekly or bi-weekly pickup day, so soiled linens never pile up in a back room.

2

Professional Cleaning to TRSA Standards. Every load is processed in our TRSA-certified facility, following Hygienically Clean protocols for the industry it’s used in — food service items to Hygienically Clean Food Safety standards, healthcare linens to Hygienically Clean Healthcare standards.

3

Quality Control Inspection. Before anything goes back on the truck, it’s checked by hand — stains, tears, and worn items are pulled and replaced instead of sent back out, so what you receive always looks and performs like new.

4

On-Time Delivery & Restock. Clean linens and uniforms arrive on your set schedule, counted and ready to use. Your route driver also handles reordering, so you’re never stuck manually tracking par levels.

Rental vs. Buying: The Real Cost

Buying linens and uniforms outright looks cheaper on a price tag — until you add up what it actually costs to keep them clean, compliant, and in stock week after week.

Buying & In-House Laundering

  • Upfront capital outlay for enough inventory to cover downtime and laundering cycles
  • Water, energy, detergent, and equipment maintenance costs that rise with utility rates
  • Staff time spent washing, folding, and tracking instead of serving customers
  • You absorb the cost of replacing worn, stained, or torn items
  • No built-in compliance standard — hygiene results vary by whoever’s doing the laundry that week
  • Downtime when a washer or dryer breaks falls entirely on your team to solve

Renting with Balfurd

  • One predictable per-visit cost, no equipment or facility investment
  • TRSA-certified cleaning to Hygienically Clean standards, every load
  • Worn or damaged items are replaced as part of the program, not an extra expense
  • Delivery and pickup handled on a fixed schedule — nothing to manage in-house
  • Frees staff time for the parts of the business that actually grow revenue
  • A single point of contact if a delivery, item, or invoice ever needs adjusting

Commercial linen rental typically costs less over time than in-house laundering once labor, utilities, and replacement costs are factored in — without the risk of a failed health inspection over improperly laundered linens.

Industries We Serve

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions we get from businesses looking into linen rental for the first time.

What are your hours?
We are open 7:30AM–4PM Monday–Friday. You are also welcome to email us at lineninfo@balfurd.com.
Do you provide service to my area?
We service from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg and everything in between — including State College, Altoona, Johnstown, Ebensburg, and Williamsport — plus Northern Maryland and Northern West Virginia. Contact us to set up service.
I have a wedding coming up. Do you do one-time rentals?
Unfortunately we do not offer one-time rentals — all of our rentals include ongoing service. Let us know if you’d like to set up ongoing service and a team member will reach out.
How often do you pick up and deliver?
Most accounts run on a weekly schedule, with bi-weekly available for lower-volume needs. Your route day is fixed, so pickup and delivery always land on the same day.
What cleaning standards do you follow?
We’re TRSA-certified and follow Hygienically Clean protocols for both food service and healthcare linens — the same third-party-verified hygiene standards used across the commercial linen industry.
Is there a minimum order size?
Program minimums vary by product line and location. Contact us with your business type and we’ll size a plan that fits.
Can I combine products from different categories in one account?
Yes — most customers rent linens, uniforms, and mats together on the same route and invoice rather than managing separate vendors for each. Your account manager can add or drop categories as your needs change without starting a new contract.

Backed by a Century of Service

Balfurd has been a family-owned linen and uniform provider since 1927, now run by the fourth generation of the same family. We’re a certified member of TRSA, the linen, uniform, and facility services association, and follow its Hygienically Clean protocols across every product line, backed by real third-party audits rather than a self-issued badge. Read more about our history and certifications on our About page, or reach out below and a local account manager — not a call center — will help you build a plan.
